Palm Sunday is this weekend and we’ve created a simple paper craft scene of Jesus riding a donkey to help remind us about the day and teach our kids about this special time leading up to Easter.

Palm Sunday paper craft of Jesus, donkey, and palms

To make the scene, start by printing and cutting out the templates. Jesus and the donkey will be folded down the middle (tip: the use of a bone folder will help keep your folds neat and tidy). The donkey’s head should be glued together, but the body should open up.

Fold the tab on the side of the children scene towards the back and glue this to the back of the building scene. You will also need to use a craft knife to cut little slits in the hands of the children to hold the palms. To create the palms, cut the palms out of the big sheet then fold them in half. While they are still folded, use sharp scissors to cut slits along the sides, loosely following the lines as a guide. Unfold the palms and try to bend and shape them a little to add some realism and dimension. With only the stems folded, gently slide them into the slits you cut in the children’s hands.

Details, how to assemble Palm Sunday Cut Out

Jesus is most easily displayed standing next to the donkey. However, with some strategic folding and a cut up the middle to separate his legs, Jesus can also ride the donkey (see below).

I had a lot of fun creating and playing around with this scene and the kids will love setting Jesus up with his donkey and palms. Click the “Download Now” button above to get started!

We’re having a snow day on this Fat Tuesday so what better way to spend the day than by coloring some Mardi Gras masks!

I prefer to print these out on some good Cricut heavy paper and hot glue them to a wooden dowel or long Popsicle stick. But, if you prefer you can use a hole punch to cut holes on each side and tie on an elastic string to hold on to your head.

It’s easy to see why simple hardware store paint chips are a favorite among Cricut Machine crafters. They’re vibrant, come in any color you need, and incredibly versatile. Today, we’re going to show you a simple paper craft that you can make using paint chips. The samples shown are from Home Depot. The Behr paint chips are wonderful for making boxes because of they’re nice and big. Plus, they’re shaped very nicely for boxes, being a wide rectangle as opposed to some of the more narrow ones.

For the top of the box:

Step 1: Use your bone folder and a ruler (or scoring board) to score lines 1 inch from the sides as shown.

Step 2: Cut four slits following the lines on the sides only. Fold all of the sides inward toward the back of the paint chip.

Step 3: Fold top and bottom toward the back of the paint chip so that you have a little flap (see photo above). You will need to add glue to each of the flaps.

Step 4: Bring sides up to flaps and hold until the glue sets and sides are stable.

For the bottom of the box:

Step 5: Repeat the steps above with a new paint chip, but this time you need to go just slightly past the 1 inch mark when marking your lines. This will make the bottom slightly smaller than the top so that they fit together nicely.

Finishing up

Now you can add some tissue paper and some delicious candies to gift to your favorite people. These boxes make up really quickly so you’ll be able to make lots!

Pinch Proof St. Patrick’s Day Paper Wearables

Don’t get caught without your green on St. Patrick’s Day! No worries… as long as you have a printer you can print out these easy-to-wear St. Patrick’s Day embellishments.

I was always caught on St. Patrick’s Day with no green in my wardrobe, and would have to come up with some silly way to add green to my clothes.

Just print and cut and you’ll be pinch-proof for sure!

Tip: Use heavy cricut paper/cardstock if you have it for added durability.

I’m using my time today to fiddle around with things, and in the process, I decided to print up these colorful note cards. Decorative and utilitarian…a winner for sure.

I’m thinking I’m going to do this more, which is why I included #1 in the title, but I’m notorious for not following through with things, so there’s that.

Summer is such a fun time for parties and a surf-themed party is perfect for boys or girls who love fun in the sun! A surfer can use any occasion to have a surf party, but pool parties work particularly well for this theme.

I recently released some surfboard clipart on my new shop and started playing around with the graphics myself (yes, I really love that I get to spend my days playing with art and graphics!). I ended up creating these party invites that can be easily personalized just by writing in the details. The cricut machine invitations are pretty informal, so I kept them on the smallish side at about 4×6 inches.

Cricut t Surfboard Party Banner (and more!)

The surfboards are the really fun part about this set. I created a PDF download of all of the surfboards from the set that you can print and use in so many different ways! You can see part of the banner I made in the image above. I used the vintage vans on either end of the banner and strung yarn through holes I punched on the surfboards. There are 11 different surfboards in the set and 4 different vans.

You can cut out a bunch of these surfboards and use them as decorations throughout your party. Tape some to toothpicks and use them as cupcake toppers. Tie a string to one end of them and use them as gift tags. There are so many ways you can use these printable surfboards for your surfing party.

Create Your Own

If you have some great ideas for using these images in a different way, or if you want to be able to personalize your surf party more, then you may want to consider purchasing the vector files from this set. You can check out the listing here, where the vector files, in addition to PSVG, PNG and JPEG files are included.

Downloadable Surf Party Invitations and Surfboard Graphics

I have put all of the files on one printable PDF file. Please not that these free Cricut printables are for personal use only. You must buy the clip art files from my shop if you wish to use any of my images commercially. Thanks!

Seeing all of the flowers springing up has me dreaming of warm picnics and long, cricut paper cut out flowy daisy chains. Have you ever made a daisy chain? They are so simple and lovely that I decided I couldn’t wait for the daisies to start popping up. This simple paper craft simulates the nature craft I grew up with, but with paper (which means it will last longer and won’t wilt!).

Daisy Chain Tutorial

supplies for making paper daisy chainWhat you’ll need to make your paper daisy chain:

White paper daisy petals (I used this paper punch but I have some resources below if you don’t want to use a punch)

Yellow circles – I didn’t have yellow paper in the shade that I wanted so I created my own. You can use my yellow paper if you’d like. (I also used a 3/4″ circle paper punch)

Green paper cut into 6″ x 1/4″ strips

Cricut Scissors

Cricut Craft knife

Glue

How to make your daisy chainStep 1: Stack two daisy petal cutouts and rotate them so that they are not stacked directly on top of one another. Then use your craft knife to cut a slit in the center of the petal, being sure to cut through both layers at the same time.

Step 2: Fold your green paper strip in half.

how to make your daisy chainStep 3: Carefully insert the cut edge of the green strip through the slit that you made. You should have about 1/4″ of the green paper coming through the top of the flower.

Step 4: Fold the green paper back onto the petals as shown in the image above, and glue into place.

How to make your daisy chainStep 5: Glue yellow dot on top of the flower petals so that they completely cover the green paper, and pull some of the petals forward so that the flower isn’t quite so flat anymore.

Step 6: Using your craft knife, carefully cut two slits towards the bottom of the “stem” so that they form an X (on subsequent stems you will want to hold off on this step until you are ready to push the next flower through). Be very careful not to get too close to the edges of the paper, but you need the slits to be long enough to accommodate the 1/4″ stems.

how to make your daisy chainStep 7: At this point you need to go ahead and make another flower. Insert the stem of the new flower into the slits you cut in the first stem.

Step 8: Pull the flower through the stem of the first all the way up to back of the petals.

how to make a daisy chainStep 9: Continue adding daisies until you reach your desired length. My Step 9 image shows how the back of the chain should look.

Step 10: When your chain is long enough, you can close it by simply sliding the first daisy through the loop of the stem of the last (note: you won’t need to cut slits in the stem of the last daisy).

Daisy Chain Necklace

Now you have a completed daisy chain that you can wear as a necklace! You should make your chain long enough to slide on and off over your head so you don’t have to fuss with trying open and close the necklace while you’re wearing it (I know this from personal experience here, haha!)

Daisy Chain Crown

Another really fun way to wear your daisy chain is as a crown. My girls instantly wanted to place it atop their heads and it looks so sweet this way. A smaller chain works best for this purpose.

Daisy Chain Template (and other resources)

Ok, so this paper craft looks way too fun and you want to get started right away, but you don’t have paper punches or the right colored paper. I hear you! I have put together some templates and printable papers for you to use if you want to break out the scissors and cut your way to a perfectly lovely paper daisy chain.
