I love love love fall, the colorful leaves which are turning beautifully in our area, and of course all the wonderful seasonal fruits and foods.

I am showing you this “gourd-eous” centerpiece. Wouldn’t you love to show this off at your holiday table? This pumpkin cake is super yummy and perfectly accented with fondant leaves cut using your Cricut Cake Machine. Placed around the pumpkin are some apples and fruits, so you can please those with less of a sweet tooth and those who like to end their meal with a sweet treat.

And the kids will LOVE it too, in fact, mine were clamoring over the cake before I had it finished!!

You can create these varigated leaves using several colors of fondant. First, I colored several pieces of fondant with Autumn colors. Next, I grouped several different colors next to each other on my Cricut Cake mat.

After this, I rolled the dough out, creating a single piece.

Now you are ready to place the piece in the machine for cutting.

Continue using the same dough, picking it up after cutting, then adding more bits of the solid colored fondant to it, and then re-rolling and cutting again.

This is what the leaves will look like, using the blended fondant.

To create the cake, I baked two cakes in a bundt pan, turned the bottom cake upside down, and then placed the second cake on top.

I tinted icing a light orange, and then covered my cake, creating the pumpkin shape.

Cricut Machines Used: Cricut Cake, Gypsy (use Gypsy to hide center cut in oak leaf)
Cricut Cartridges Used: Create a Critter (Maple leaf cut at 3.0 and 3.59 inches), Doodlecharms (Oak leaf cut at 3.69 inches)
Other Supplies: Fondant

Usually March is known for coming “In like a Lion . . . “, but this year we are leaping into March like a frog . . . with Leap Year, that is!

Do you know anyone who was born on Leap Year? Or maybe someone in your life who is making a “Leap of Faith” with a big change in their life right now?

Why not send them a Leap Year card to celebrate. Or maybe you like to celebrate the “Wearin’ O’ the Green” and are looking for a St. Patrick’s Day card idea Check out this cute card design by Cindy Royal below where she shows us how one card design can be used for two different occasions!

With a few quick changes, this Leap Day card design serves double-duty by becoming a St. Patrick’s Day card!

Cindy changed the heart to a shamrock on the tummies of the frogs and also switched out the the lily pad the frogs are sitting on to a shamrock lily pad. By using the editing features in Cricut Craft Room, Cindy was able to stretch and “flatten” a shamrock shape for the frogs to sit on. So clever!

What activities do you enjoy when you go camping? For some it is the pure joy of sitting around the camp fire enjoying the peace and quite. For others it is going for a hike or a bike ride to take in the beauty of nature.

A dear friend of mine allowed me to use this photo of her son and she shared that one of his favorite things to do when they go camping is to go fishing.

This photo of her son fishing inspired every bit of this layout. From the patterned papers I used, to the Cricut images I decorated it with. And what better cartridges to use than the two camping cartridges: Campin’ Critters and Camp Out – Digital?!

The border of fish felt like a perfect fit for the topic. I also found the “Gone Fishin” sign on the Campin’ Critters Cartridge to use as the title. I replaced the fish that was originally part of the sign with a fish from the Camp Out Digital Cartridge so that the title and borders would coordinate better.

I created the large frame by altering the Frame image from the Camp Out Digital Cartridge. I used the Cricut Craft Room to hide the outside of the frame image and I only used the inside piece.

I copied this same image and then re-sized it to make one slightly larger to create a double mat effect.

To spread the forest image across the layout, I cut the image and placed part of it on one side of the photo and the other part on the other side of the photo. I also cut these two trees apart to allow me to put the title behind the trees.

So when is your next camping trip? I hope you have a great time and do something to rest and relax!

I have to confess I’m not much of a camper! Next week my cousin and her girls are coming to visit me, and have decided to go camping, so I made them a mini album to document the trip.

My cousin and I are a lot like Lucy and Ethel when we get together, so I am sure there will be plenty of “memorable” moments to fill this album!

I just love the shape of this trailer, and a pink camping trailer as the cover of the album is so much fun for a girls camping trip! I know they will love the colors, and sense of whimsy!

Each page has its own color combo, and embellishments. Some pages have been left a little more open for the addition of journaling and multiple photos.

Other pages were filled up with adorable outdoorsy images and sentiments leaving room for smaller photos and memorabilia, to make it easy for a novice scrapper to complete.

The front and back cover have a piece of chipboard sandwiched between the papers for strength and stability, the inner pages have an extra layer of cardstock to support photos and years of “flipping” through memory lane!

A mini album is a great gift for outdoors adventurers, and campers! Take a closer look at your Cricut cuts to see if there is a fun or interesting shape that could be used as a mini album.

Or scraplift this idea and create your own trailer album, the cut files are below for you to use and enjoy!!!

Happy camping! And happy creating…oh…and wish me luck! *wink*
